Looking for ways to thank someone? It’s always a good idea to send a thank you note when you land a new account. It shows the client that you value their business and sets the tone for the start of your relationship. You might say something like this:

We’re so very excited to have you as a customer and wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing us. Our mission is to deliver our clients the very best experience we can, so please know that we value your feedback. We know you’ll be happy with your decision and can’t wait to get started on your project. We look forward to speaking with you soon. Have a wonderful day!

Showing Appreciation For An Existing Client

thank you to client for business

It’s a good idea to say thank you to clients for business they’ve given you in the past. Not only does this convey genuine gratitude, but it’s also a good way to nurture the relationship in preparation for future work.

The last example was fairly universal, but for existing clients, it’s better to send a personalized message. You could word your message something like this:

Dear Robert,

We wanted to take an opportunity to express how thankful we are that you’ve been such a loyal customer. It’s hard to believe we’ve been working with you for over five years! It’s clients like you that make our business possible. We recognize that there are other choices in the market, so we wanted to make sure you knew just how much we appreciate your continued patronage. Here’s to many more years together. Thanks again, and have an excellent day!

Warmly yours,

Sending Thanks For Fast Payment

what to write in a business thank you card for payments

Cash flow is critical for every business. When you find a customer that pays you on-time, or early, it’s smart to acknowledge them. Saying, “Thank you for your business invoice payment” when it’s taken care of quickly is a great way to encourage this behavior to continue.

By sending a thank you note you’ll formalize the payment as a benchmark that they’ll likely try to live up to in the future. A good example:

Dear Linda,

This is just a quick note to thank you for your recent payment. We appreciate your business and wanted to acknowledge you for your professionalism in getting it to us early. It’s not required or expected, which makes it doubly impressive that you choose to run your business that way. We’re very lucky to have you as a customer and we look forward to serving you in the future. Thanks for being a dependable customer!

Yours in gratitude,

A Few Tips for Making Your Thank You Card Message Even Better

When writing your thank you card, here are a few tips to make it even better. Your card wording will impact your recipients' lives, so write something appropriate to the occasions you're celebrating.

  • Don't forget to send your card on time. A thank you note that arrives weeks or months after the event won't have nearly the emotional impact it could have.
  • Express your gratitude in specific terms. Thank the person for the gift, their referral, or their business idea. The gift-giver did you a solid, and the card messages you select should point out exactly what they did for you.
  • Reference how the gift or idea has helped you in some way. This will let the recipient know that their thoughtfulness was appreciated. If it was a beautiful gift, let the sender know how it improved our professional life. If it was a referral, tell your recipient how your world has improved because of the new business.
  • Let the recipient know that you hope to continue working with them in the future. This shows that you value their input and would like to continue benefitting from it. Building relationships is a critical part of business development, and spreading gratitude accomplishes this effectively.
  • Thank them for their time, effort, and thoughtfulness. This is a simple but effective way to let the recipient know how much you appreciate them. The world is full of helpful people, but these are the people that helped you. Let them know it.
  • Use a handwritten note to really make your appreciation stand out. Handwritten cards are more personal, emotionally-gratifying, and effective. What's more, they're opened 99% of the time! Don't weaken the appeal of your gratitude by sending a generic thank you email. Send a handwritten thank you card and really wow your recipients.
  • Make sure your note is error-free and professional. Nothing pulls the pin on professional communications like misspellings and grammatical errors. Always check your language!
  • Address the note to the appropriate person. This one should go without saying. If you send your thank you card to the wrong person, you're not getting the job done. You should also include an appropriate closing given your audience.
  • Use a polite and respectful tone. Remember, this is a professional communication, so choose your words carefully.

With these tips in mind, you're sure to create a thank you card that will make the recipient feel appreciated and valued. Thank you cards are a great way to let people know how much you appreciate them, so don't hesitate to send one!
